益子焼は江戸時代後期から伝わる栃木県の郷土民芸品です。
その技術は土地の人々の手に代々受け継がれ、
時代とともに芸術性の高い民芸品へと変化をとげています。
こちらのうわぐすりは、亜鉛華を主体に2~3種類の原料を調合しています。
1300度の高温で焼成した後、ある一定の温度を保って徐冷することにより、
表面に様々な結晶が浮き出します。焼成方が非常に難しく高度の技術を要する作品です。
淡い青みかかった色合いは気品高く、味わいがあり、幻の結晶といわれる うわぐすりにより
作り出される貴重な逸品です。

Mashiko pottery is a local folk craft of Tochigi Prefecture that has been passed down since 19th century.
The techniques have been passed down from generation to generation by local people,
and over time it has evolved into a highly artistic folk craft.
This glaze is made by mixing two or three ingredients, mainly zinc oxide.
After firing at a high temperature of 1300 degrees, it is slowly cooled while maintaining a certain temperature,
and various crystals appear on the surface. The firing method is extremely difficult and requires advanced skills.
The pale bluish color is elegant and tasteful, and it is a precious masterpiece created with a glaze that is said to be a mystical crystal.
